T-TAS plus Thrombus Analyzer

Quantitative method for assessing thrombus formation under physiological blood flow conditions

The T-TAS®plus analyzer is an automated system using a flow chamber for quantitative analysis and video imaging of the thrombus formation process under conditions of variable blood flow. The use of PL-chip and AR-chip microarrays allows for a quantitative assessment of the activity of platelet and mixed thrombus development when simulating arterial and venous blood flow conditions.

Two types of cartridges are used for the study:

  • PL cartridge for platelet activity research

  • AR cartridge for mixed thrombus formation assessment

PL and AR cartridge

When whole blood flows through the cartridge, a clot forms due to activation by collagen and tissue thromboplastin, leading to an increase in pressure and recorded graphically. The pressure curve can be used to assess the onset and end of occlusion, the time it takes for clot formation, and the area under the curve. Simultaneously, a video image of the thrombus formation process is recorded.
